The History Behind Us
The Church originated in September 1973 and later constitued November 30, 1973. The church was founded in the home of Mr. & Mrs. Ronald Lee and several others present who united in prayer and felt lead to form a new church. There wvere 38 charter members. As we stepped out on faith the church engaged in several projects to help raise funds to aid in the building of the church. We had garage sales, cake sales, a concession stand and the selling of bonds. Mettings were held in different members homes until we started mettng in the basement of Mr.&·Mrs. Richard Wimpey until the church was built.
Our first pastor was Rev. J.M. Hughes. Who served as pastor for one year. Our second pastor was Rev. Otto Ellington who served for three years. Third was Rev. Winfred Daniel who served for three years. Fourth was Rev. Hubert Tripp who served for twenty one and a half years until his passing in March of 2001. Our current pastor is the Rev. Roy Hammond.
Our first person to be saved was Bryan Swain who was saved in the home of Mr. & Mrs. Billy Fountain. Our first baby born was Jody Lee, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Lee. Our first ordination was to ordain Jimmy Lee and Ronald Lee as ministers. We were proud to have these men as deacons over the thirty years.
